Head of Film and Television Department / Co-Owner
Laura Walsh is the co-owner and head of the Adult Theatrical Department for Central Artists.
Laura grew up moving around the world until her family finally settled in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Once finishing high school she moved to Sacramento to attend the University. From Sacramento, Laura moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in the Entertainment Industry.
Laura is a method trained actress from some of the finest teacher Los Angeles had to offer at that time. Peggy Feury, Bill Traylor and Burr DeBenning. Being a member of a theater company afforded her the opportunity to produce small theater. Having a knack for putting all the pieces together and helping to guide other actors, it was a natural transition to make the move to Talent Management. This is when she and Jean-Marc Carre partnered to open Central Artists, May, 2000. We have now moved into a fully Franchised SAG/AFTRA/ATA Agency. This background has been invaluable while communicating, grooming, coaching and working with actors as a manager and as an agent.
Originally the idea was to operate Central Artists as a State Licensed Management Company which would allow Laura to continue to produce. Her production turned into Webisodes during it's infancy when there was no template to follow. Youtube did not exist. Episodes had to post on a website and try to draw traffic to it. Guerrilla film making at it's finest. This was a great experience for Laura and her talent. It gave them the skills to work and carry a series. Central Artists since is has become a fully franchised SAG/AFTRA/ATA Agency.
The business philosophy originated by Laura and Jean-Marc was basically less is more. They choose to have fewer talent; put all their energy into those talent; have more auditions and bookings for the hand selected talent. This plan has worked for all these years. Laura always referred to Central Artists as a retro-agency. The way it used to be back in the day when agents could spend more time developing and guiding their actors.
